Lane Realty wants buyers to meet us at our office. Why?

When a person calls our office and says "we're in the driveway can you come show us this house?" The answer is NOT ALWAYS yes.  Sometimes I do go and meet clients I have never met before at a home, but when I do it's when another agent in my office can go with me.

I realize that it's NOT always convenient for you to come to our office (which is located near the Lake in Putnam County and I apologize for the inconvenience of that, but I do hope that once I explain why you will understand the need for us to be cautious.

Danger stories on the job

Even if you only read one of those, perhaps you have a better understanding of why we don't want to leave our office without meeting you first. When you come and meet us at the office chances are someone else will be there. Someone else will be checking on us, someone else will have seen you and your car will be in our parking lot. That gives us a little more reason to feel secure.

And yes, we do our homework and "check you out" if you contact us on the Internet. We snoop on your social media to see if you are who you say you are and if you live where you say you live.  If you were headed out with a stranger wouldn't you do the same? I hope you understand that we have to consider our safety. We would love to help you find a house if that's what you are looking to do, however we want to prevent putting ourselves into a situation where we are in danger from others who have bad intentions. We're sorry if that is an inconvenience to you, but we hope after reading this, you understand. We have to find the balance between our safety and helping clients.
