Recently someone asked me what kind of fish are in Lake Sinclair? I had to do a little research and I suppose that some could have been put in by consumers that are not reported on the DNR website, but for the fish that good eating below are the breeds found in Lake Sinclair and the legal limits you can catch per day.
Found in Lake Sinclair are:
- Largemouth Bass (limit 10 per day)
- Smallmouth Bass (limit 10 per day)
- Spotted bass (limit 10 per day)

- White bass (limit 15 per day)
- Hybrid white-striped bass (limit 15 per day)
- Channel catfish (no limit)
- Flathead catfish (no limit)

- Sunfish, redear (limit 50 per day)
- Sunfish, redbreast (limit 50 per day)

The Georgia DNR has available on line Fishing regulations for Georgia and Licensing and permit information as well. Persons may fish from their own property or dock (as well as immediate family) without a license, but daily limits still apply and can be enforced. If you fish from a boat you must have a license.
In the photo is Abigail 20 years ago with a largemouth bass caught from Lake Sinclair. She however did not catch it. We "borrowed" it to take this photo on this dock of a lot I had on the market. We sold that lot three days after this ad was published.
I know a lot about Lake Sinclair, but I also know when to refer you to the local expert as well. "Big Ed" as he's know to the local community can tell you both where and what the fish are biting. Lakeside Bait & Tackle is the name on the front of the store, but locally it's known better as Big Ed's. He's off on Tuesday though, so make sure not to start fishing on Tuesday if you need to know where or what they are biting.
I've enjoyed many fish fries with catches from Lake Sinclair in my life and hope to enjoy a few more.Donald needs to go fishing more. I need to get my parents and brother to plan a float fish night to take him fishing. It's been a long while since we had a fish fry. They are best fried outside in a cast iron pot with my mama's cole slaw, hushpuppies and cheese grits.
And of course if you'd like your own dock to fish from on Lake Sinclair we can help you find just the perfect fishing spot. Give our office a call today and we'll start looking for your perfect fishing spot. You'll have to make your own cole slaw, hushpuppies and cheese grits.
