For those of you considering buying an ASUS Zenbook, I want to share my experience to save you the pain I've been through. I paid $1,550 for the ASUS Zenbook UX31E (their top of the line model) on 11/21/11 from New Egg.com. On 11/28/11 I received the computer and began using it. It worked fine for the first four weeks and then began having problems starting up. On 1/14/12 it didn't start at all and on 1/17/12 I sent it in to be serviced as instructed by ASUS (it was now just beyond NewEgg's 30 day guarantee). They received the computer on 1/20/12.
I have had no phone calls or e-mails from ASUS at all. I have to call their Customer Service hotline, which consists of people in Malaysia or some other foreign land peering at a computer screen reading back to me the exact same information I obtain from the ASUS Service website. It is now almost two weeks and there is no indication on when my computer will be returned. The ASUS Service site states, "Waiting [WB-1] Wait for Material/Spare Parts".
Well, I've had it! I'm starting a social media campaign to put pressure on ASUS to either fix my machine or send me a new one! My client files are on that computer and it is very difficult to work without my files. Please reblog this post and Tweet it with the hashtags #ASUS #GailRobinson. Let's see if social media can work to get this arrogant giant's attention.
Thanks,
Gail

I don't know gail, but I understand what she's going thru. I just left a comment on her blog to call me. I don't understand why anyone would want their only copy of client files on one computer. (Tammy, please tell me you don't do this!)
Hi Tammy - My only copy of client files is not on that computer. I just want you to know that. I had a copy on an external hard drive, but the hard drive failed right after I sent the ASUS off to repair, so I can't access that. The other copy is on a service similar to Carbonite, but I don't have a reliable computer to download the files onto. I'm using my iPad and a very old Dell computer at the moment. Eric jumped to conclusions. Thanks so much for reblogging this!
I wasn't worried that you did. I also shared your post of facebook and twitter. I even went to the ASUS twitter site and tweeted it to them. I hope they respond to you soon.
Gail, you're right. I did jump to conclusions, but only based on you saying "My client files are on that computer and it is very difficult to work without my files."
I had just set up Microsoft Outlook a week or two ago and it downloaded 14,208 emails, erasing them ALL from their original servers. What this did was put them all in Outlook on One Computer. If my computer had crashed at that time, I'd have lost everything.
So, yes. I thought you had all of your files in only one place. I just found out that gmail is an awesome tool to keep this from happening, at least for me. I was going to tell you about it.
Good luck with everything and if you don't already know about Gmail, and all of it's functions, I'd still be more than happy to talk to you.
Tammy, if you could pass this on to Gail, I would appreciate it!
will do Eric.
