America let's show our support to those who serve us!

If you read my posts you know that my daughter is a paramedic and my Donald is in law enforcement. And I know there is a rogue bad apple here and there, but 99% of the police, firefighters and paramedics in this country are public servants because they care so much. And of course there was the total insensitive nurse comments on the view. I've seen things that are upsetting in the news and in the media this week and I've seen extraordinary responses to some of the things happening in this country.  I want to share with you some of the disturbing and some of the extraordinary.

I find it very disturbing that in San Antonio that firefighters have been given a directive to not drive/from work in uniform.  I guess if they need to go out the grocery store in the 24 hour shift they are supposed to change for that too?  I get that it is a safety measure, but doesn't that bother you that it needs to be done?  Yet one more officer shot today just doing a traffic stop. Disturbing.

And the view talking heads with their stupidity and non apologies (I find disturbing too)

I had a very proud moment as mom when I read my daughter's response. Could you add to the 325 people who have liked and/or commented on her Facebook post. I think it was very well stated. Wish those ladies from the view could ride on my daughter's truck a few nights.  They might understand you have to wear a swimsuit or a formal gown to have "talent" and that Miss Colorado wasn't "reading her emails", she was giving a heartfelt talk about her career.

I also saw this and thought it was totally awesome. Maybe you can put a blue ribbon in front of your house and show your local police officers support. Or a red ribbon to support firefighters.  I think this neighborhood is just amazing.  I hope I can get this started in my community. How about you start it in yours.

I agree.  I hadn't seen the view, but heard about the backlash on Facebook today.  I remember the days when I used to proudly drive in uniform to events I volunteered at.  Now days, we have the same directive.  The National Association for Search and Rescue just put one out for all SAR teams.  Scary times indeed.  Unfortunately, the media plays up the bad cop and completely ignores the ones buying shoes for homeless people and genuinely helping their communities.  Disgusting media agenda.

Then again, most of my friends are cops, firefighters, nurses and EMTs, so I may be a bit biased towards that community.  :-)

I remember  when I joined the military as an Officer Jimmy Carter was president and he did not sign the defense appropriation bill we did not get paid the first month.... I also remember when Ronald Reagan became president and we could not paper qualify our physical fitness scores and could not fake our weapons qualification scores either and it was nice to be able to walk proudly in our military uniform unlike during the previous regime...... seems like history repeats itself...just sayin....Endre

Tammy, it is a shame that so many have so little respect for those dedicated to serve and protect! Enjoy your day!

Good morning Tammy. I am never taken with or surprised by anything said or shown on the View. Too much attention. You have my support.

Tammy, it disgusts me how little respect those who put their lives on the line for us get. I had not heard about The View and just did a quick to see what happened. Talking heads is the perfect description. We live in very scary times and should be supporting our officers and firefighters more than ever.

Thanks, Tammy, for this post... it's a very important topic and I can't believe what's happening out there with what I can only call the indiscriminate slaughter of police. And people seem to think they can do this with impunity! We should be going out of our way to thank our people in uniform daily for risking their lives every day of their lives.

I hate the View and most of their opinions (didn't they stand up for Bill Cosby?) and their hypocrasy. So I have no idea what transpired. But I assume it was bad if it spurred you to write this. I know their ratings are way down and I just hope someone puts them out of their misery one day very soon!

I read about those comments on The View. First of all, I NEVER watch that show anyways but I'm so glad they're getting so much backlash over it!

Loved your link about the neighborhood. I shared it on my facebook page and am going home and putting ribbons in the front yard. My family is full of law enforcement officers and they deserve our respect.

Well, all I've got to add to the conversation is yay for Miss Georgia. I watched a very brief part of the show, much to my husband's disdain, and I picked Miss Georgia from the very beginning. As for the View, now I'll have to google to see what that is about. Not wearing uniforms to the store??

Tammy you're daughter wrote about it beautifully.  It's hard to imagine people speaking the way the ladies of the view did (I don't watch but did hear about it all over FB).

Ryan Huggins I'm also very biased, but I know their hard work and sacrifice.

Endre Barath, Jr. my husband joined under Regan's leadership, walked very proud in his uniform too

Wayne Martin it certainly is a shame.

Sheila Anderson I'm sure law enforcement officers in your area would be happy to know that too.

Amanda S. Davidson agreed.

Nina Hollander I hope so.  And it is certainly a tragic shame what is happening out there.

Nicole Doty - Gilbert Real Estate Expert I'm so happy to see the push back against them too

Rebecca Lewis they certainly do

Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents actually she's a daughter of my aunt's close friend. I wasn't really paying attention when I saw on FB she had won it was because my Aunt Charlotte shared her mom's post.  Her parents are both Physical therapists in the small town where my aunt and uncle are a doctor and nurse.

Anna Banana Kruchten not only is she amazing at her job she totally respects the ED nurses that she meets at the doors with patients.  They work so hard and have such a tough job.  And I'm NOT knocking any contestent in the Miss America contest, but when Joy said "it's Miss America, I'm used to seeing them in Gowns and swimsuits" I thought to myself "exactly who do you thing has a war on women?"

Good for that neighborhood! That was a fabulous idea, thanks for sharing it Tammy!

Tammy,  I married a police officer and I've worked for several police departments. I believe most people are good. Sadly, it only takes a few bad apples to create a bad reputation for a profession. Firefighters in my area grocery shop every day they are on duty. The truck is parked across about 5 parking spaces and the men go inside to buy food for their shift.  I think that is pretty darn cool, or shall I say ... hot ... because they are firefighters

Evelyn Johnston I've got to get out and get some ribbon soon for my office and own yard.

Kathleen Daniels hahaha love that parting gift.  And mostly these days I think firefighters look like children.  I guess that happens when they are all young enough to be my kids.

Tammy, it's both tragic and shameful for our country and our society. And I am so dismayed that more people aren't speaking out against this killing of police officers.

Meantime, did you see that Johnson & Johnson has pulled its advertising from The View? (Good for them.)

Posted by Nina Hollander, Your Charlotte/Waxhaw/Fort Mill Area Realtor (RE/MAX Executive | Charlotte, NC) almost 2 years ago

I had not heard that. Indeed good for them.  And I almost feel like some people don't speak out against the killings or support publicly out of fear.  And if so, what a shame.
