The tax collector says it's time to pay up at Lake Sinclair

Three counties border Lake Sinclair: Baldwin, Hancock and Putnam. Tax bills have now been mailed in all three counties. If you purchased property in 2015 chances are the former owner is the one who got the tax bill.

We've had several sellers contact us with "what do we do with the tax bill?"  We've had them mailed to us to forward or scanned and emailed to us if the seller has the ability and available technology to do that. We pass along to the agent on the buyers side if they are not in our own office and pass to the buyer if it was our buyer.

But the fact remains, not getting your tax bill is not a legitimate reason for not paying or paying it on time. You can contact the Tax Commissioner's office in your county if you did not get your bill yet. The addresses and phone number for all three counties are below

Baldwin County

Baldwin County Tax Commissioner

Address: 121 N Wilkinson St # 112, Milledgeville, GA 31061

Hancock County

Hancock County Tax Commissioner

Address: 64 Courthouse Sq, Sparta, GA 31087

Putnam County

Putnam County Tax Commissioner

Address: 100 S Jefferson Ave # 207, Eatonton, GA 31024

And if you purchased in 2015 and have a mortgage and your taxes are escrowed you will need to send a copy of the bill to your mortgage company as soon as possible. The email address and/or fax number should be on line or on your statement or in your coupon book. But that first year it's important to send them a copy of the bill.  Years that follow you don't have to send it to them, however I send mine every year, just in case.

The tax collector(s) didn't waste any time mailing out the tax bills. This is a valuable post for your buyer clients.

With all the excitement about buying and moving into a new home, it's easy to forget about such "minor" details Tammy. I'm sure Lake Sinclair buyers are very appreciative of the info and reminder!

Tammy, Since it is tax time in Lake Sinlair, homeowners should be diligent to pay their taxes on time.

Good morning Tammy. I don't mind paying my fair share of property taxes, but for some of my properties, the increases are getting out of hand.

ah yes, taxes taxes taxes. We need to keep abreast of this but new home buyers tend to forget, and this is a great reminder.

This is great local information, Tammy.

Our tax bills come in January. We have several different ways we can pay them, and the way you pick decides your final due date.
