Fighting with technology, an all day affair

When you tell a client "you have to be at the court house first thing in the morning to get this recorded before the mail arrives" you have to go to work early. I've been struggling to get a closing done since since mid august and finally was getting to a good place on that deal when I decided it was TIME to sit down and fix my email.

I'd gotten reminder emails from att.net that my blah blah blah had to be upgraded to keep working with outlook.  I went and checked all my settings, I was still getting emails, everything seemed fine.  Then on October 16th.... BAM. Outlook was not syncing with my email provider.

Now of course I could still go on line to get and send emails.  Heck I could even still get and send email on my phone. But I have really great long term organization going on in my outlook program so was totally bummed. Today was THE day I was determined to make it work.  So after my early morning I dedicated the next 6 hours to on line customer service, on the phone lack of customer service, on line support, and just trying different buttons.

Finally around 4 p.m. success.

I'm feel all good even though it took me six hours.  THEN... (meow meow want to know if I'm ever going to have time to play)

One of my agents comes into my office and says,  "look at this".  Yes, now one of my websites has a broken something something and I've reported it to the IDX gurus and I'm waiting for a fix.  It's always something isn't it?

Now off to go do a quick walk-through of the house before closing tomorrow. I need to know that it's was cleaned well for my buyer.  I want her only to have to unload the truck and move in She's been the favorite buyer client I've had in a long time.  One that I know will be my friend a long time in the future.

PS- if anyone of you is having that issue with Outlook and bellsouth, give a call, maybe I can help.

Tammy - I have had problems off and on with Outlook so I feel your pain. The most aggravating thing is the TIME that it takes to unscramble it. Our broker in charge is a web/internet/guru as well as a beta tested for all things Microsoft so anytime something new comes along -guess who are the guinea pigs! It helps since we see the brightest new shiny 'pennies' but it can be a pain in the neck to constantly be trying new things. Anyway, hang in there!

My husband always told me to use Outlook. So far, I've resisted, but good to know you're available.

Tammy Lankford, it sounds like a typical day in the life of an agent to me, sans the meows!

Tammy Lankford It is interesting that technology has made most things much easier for us  --- but it can also be a nightmare.

I don't believe in much but I do believe that when Mercury is in retrograde, technology goes a bit haywire.

Oh see, I just turn those sorts of problems over to my IT department (my poor put upon husband) and go play horsey.

Wow what a day you had. I have had problems with my outlook syncing for the past 8 months. Just divided up my 4 eamil boxes and look at them everyday. Such a pain. If there is a simple fix let me know. Have a great week.

My only server out here, CenturyLink SUCKS. NO other word to use. Every single time we get on the phone with them it's a sruggle. We're moving our lives, in EVERY way on the 28th and I'm hoping and praying that they don't screw up our phone/internet, etc. as it's all connected. My hubby and I took most of a Sat. morning sitting on the phone with them got hung up on FOUR TIMES and FINALLY got a woman on the phone who didn't use English as a second language and "got it"...she kept saying that to ease our frustration.

Oy vey! I feel your pain...

Good morning Tammy. Love it or hate it, we are dependent on technology. Just look at how we complain when things don't go well on AR.

It is extremely important to have good back up support to make sure all works well to keep everything flowing with the least amount of interruption.

I have had some such days when getting things fixed took  all day.

Tammy Lankford the general public does not know all the additional time we put into these kinds of projects.  We had our main hard drive go out and we had to get a new one.  Thanks to on line backup systems we were back up with the data but then it took 3 days to re-install new software to match the new hardware.

Did you get the 'we have recorded' email from title yet? That's always a great email to receive!

The kitty is cute.

I feel for you. Technology issues stink. I work very hard to avoid them, but sometimes i still get hit with them. I hope the website issues get straightened out without you have to spend another six hours on the phone.

I feel your pain.  That exact same thing happened to me with Outlook on my last computer and no one, not even the tech savvy office manager could get it to work.  I decided to stop using it after that.

I downloaded Windows 10 and it played havoc with my computer and brought it down to a crippling crawl. I had to take it to the Geeks. Oh technology can be so frustrating.
