I got to my office early this morning and was sitting down turning on my computer to get it going after I had got the coffee pot going. One of my agents was also in the office and she came down the hall and was talking to me so I turned to look at her and we had a thunderous noise and a few seconds of shaking. It was the kind of shaking that leaves damage behind and nothing fell off the walls, but it did rattle. The red dot near the intersection is my office, the
orange dot about center up and down and 1/3 from the left was the center. You can see it was also only about three miles from the bridges at Plant Branch on 441 as well. It was felt in several surrounding counties and reported.
Within a few seconds our local community groups on Facebook lit up with "did you hear that?", "did you feel that?" and "what the heck was that?". The common thread had the answer withing a few comments. Us locals know that they happen here now and again. Never bad. Today's was a 2.6.
Did you know that you can and should report when you think you might have felt an earthquake? They have a site "DID YOU FEEL IT?"
You can also fairly quickly find information on earthquakes after they occur in the United States on line here.

I'm glad you are safe:)
2.6 baby quakes are happening in here quite often.
That does sound like an exciting morning Tammy Lankford . The earth moved for me this afternoon for me with a nice closing and commission check.
There were several earthquakes near here a couple of months ago. The tremors were in Madison, MS, which is only 20 minutes away.
I hope all is well Tammy. I am hoping that Mother Nature give you a break.
Wouldn't expect one in your area. We get on the media all the time for reporting 3.x quakes. If it isn't at LEAST a 4.0, we don't want to hear about it. We're so used to them here, I've slept through some 5.Xs and we can accurately judge the intensity. The best was I had just about to lay down to sleep when camping and a 4.6 rolled on through. Jumped a little, but was fun.
We use the fallen patio chair image a lot out here to make fun of our earthquakes too (and news media for sensationalizing them).
Hello Tammy,
Nothing like a little rocking and rolling with your morning coffee!
Hi Tammy Lankford I guess you can say you're a "mover and shaker" in the real estate industry, lol! Seriously though, glad you're ok!
Tammy,
Glad all are safe. Hope the rest of the week is calm.
You "rock" but you don’t have to do it literally.
That'll SHAKE you up Tammy Lankford
Yes, they are definitely unnerving. I wasn't aware of that site, so thanks. Easy name to remember.
Thank you for the name of the site. I was not aware of it.
I've only experience a quake once.....I thought a truck ran into the apartment building I was living in at the time. I was ironing and the ironing board bounced across the room while things on the wall shook.
Good morning Tammy. I never heard about the site before. Glad you are OK and no damage was done.
It's rare that they occur here in the Chicagoland area, Tammy Lankford ... but it has happened. Didn't know about the report site .. so thanks for the info ..
Glad you're safe and all is well,
Gene
Hi Tammy Lankford , I have onl been in an earthquake that I felt. that was in 1981 in California. Not a Fan!
Darn those Frackers...any natural gas companies near you? Know this feeling so well, as a San Franciaco native. It shakes is up alright. Great tips on teporting "quakes" thanks!
We live in a military area and we feel booms and vibrations quite often. On top of that they are taking down bridges on the Interstate and doing a massive road widening project a couple of miles from my home. I can't distinguish between what is man induced and a real earthquake. But I have felt an earthquake several years ago and saw my dishes shake and pictures on the wall go crooked.
I was about 10 years old, visited my aunt on the Black Sea in summer, and there was a quake. Not a strong one, 3 points, but it was weird as the chandellier was "dancing" and the glasses rattled...
I did not know that you, guys, are getting this stuff...
Good morning Tammy. That would have gotten my attention for sure. Haven't been exposed to a quake, which works just fine for me.
Glad you are all good.
